The Drum Tuning Workshop
This first week of May, we will be performing our drum tuning workshop. We’ll go over how to tune your drums, how to set them up properly, and other posture aspects to go over so that way you’re set up for long term success. This is going to be most beneficial for people with acoustic drums but even if you have electric drums, you will learn a lot. Look forward to seeing some of our students on Monday May 5th at Bridge MKE from 6:30-7:30!
Student of the Month
Evelyn is a young up and coming drummer! She gets the nod as this months feature student because of her willingness to stick with it and work hard at a single subject. Many kids her age have a hard time working through challenging songs for long periods of time. But her great attitude and longterm discipline are a great example that all kids should aspire too.

Newsletter Article: How Learning Multiple Instruments Makes You a Better Musician
Ever wondered if picking up a second instrument could boost your musical skills? Learning multiple instruments not only expands your musical horizons but also strengthens your overall musicianship. For beginners and intermediate students, exploring a new instrument can initially seem challenging—like adding more homework to your busy schedule. However, each instrument offers a fresh perspective on rhythm, melody, and harmony, helping you better understand music as a whole. For example, drummers who learn piano often find their rhythm skills becoming sharper, while guitarists who experiment with singing develop stronger pitch recognition and ear training.
Embracing multiple instruments enhances your creativity and keeps practice exciting. You’ll discover connections between instruments you never imagined, making it easier to collaborate and perform with others. So, if you’re feeling stuck or simply curious, consider stepping out of your comfort zone. The skills you gain from one instrument will naturally enrich your abilities in another, making your musical journey more rewarding than ever.

The NFL Draft Was Here!
One of the most exciting events of the football year happened right in our back yard. Green Bay hosted the NFL draft! Normally I would write an entire article talking about my take on the picks but the cool story for me is that I not only attended the draft, but my band got hired to play for the event! It was a really cool experience but it was also exhausting. In the end though, I’m so glad I went. It was really cool to be in the heart of our historic town and watch the events happen in person.
Sons of Sconnie played for 3 hours at “Stadiumview Bar” right on the main road. We had a good crowd despite the rough weather. I also managed to go home with a special jersey that I will be wearing to every fantasy football draft for the foreseeable future.
