Alex’s Cool Music Gear of the Month

 Danelectro 59

The Danelectro 59, introduced in the 1950s, became an iconic guitar due to its affordable, innovative design and unique sound. Built with Masonite bodies and surplus lipstick tube pickups, it produced a bright, jangly tone with a lo-fi charm, perfect for genres like surf rock, blues, and experimental music. Lightweight and simple, it was aimed at beginner and intermediate players but earned a cult following among professional musicians for its distinctive character.

Famous users include Jimmy Page, who used it for slide work on songs like “Kashmir,” and alternative icons like Sonic Youth. Its quirky design and resourceful construction have made it a timeless favorite. Modern reissues stay true to the vintage charm while improving functionality, ensuring the Danelectro 59 remains a beloved choice for musicians seeking something unique and affordable.

How Bout Dem Packers

It’s sad to say, but the season is over. We had a good run but in the end the Eagles overwhelmed us. We put in a good effort but by the end of the game, we were overwhelmed with injuries and just couldn’t close the gap.

There are a few consolations to take away. The defense held up tremendously well this season. We were consistently competitive against even the best teams. The team we lost to in the playoffs was ultimately the team to make it to the Super Bowl. Also the Vikings and Lions lost immediately so that’s somewhat satisfying!

All in all, it was a promising season and we have no reason to think we shouldn’t be competitive next season. Looking forward to watching the Super Bowl!

New Phone Number

Just a quick update. We have a new phone number here at Milwaukee Music Lessons. You can still call and text the new line so if you have questions for Alex or need help with anything you can do so just like you always did. Just be sure to use the new number.

We’ll be talking a bit about our journey as musicians and how we got started as well as some of what inspired us when we got started. Check out the videos on Facebook and Youtube when they drop in early February.
